Help with communication and access

We want everyone to be able to use our services. If you have a disability, sensory loss or need support to communicate, please tell us and we will make reasonable adjustments.

Tell us what you need

Let us know when you register, contact us online or phone. We will add your needs to your record, so our team know before your appointment. With your permission, we also share them with other NHS services when we refer you. This is part of the NHS Accessible Information Standard.

For example, you can ask us to:

  • book an interpreter

  • send letters in large print or easy read, or by email

  • contact you by text instead of phone, or through a carer or family member

  • give you a longer appointment, or the first or last appointment of the day

  • let you wait somewhere quieter

Interpreters

If English is not your first language, we can book a professional interpreter for your appointment, by phone or in person. It is free and confidential. Please tell us when you book, so we can arrange it.

We advise against using family or friends to interpret, especially children.

British Sign Language (BSL)

We can book a BSL interpreter for your appointment. You can contact us using our online form, by text or through a relay service.

At our surgeries

  • hearing loops at reception

  • step-free access and accessible toilets

  • parking for blue badge holders

Learning disability

If you have a learning disability and are aged 14 or over, you can have a free annual health check with us. Please ask us to add you to our learning disability register.
