Hot Weather Advice - June 2026
With temperatures expected to remain high across the country this week, we’d like to remind everyone to take a few simple steps to stay safe during the hot weather.
Staying safe in the heat
💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day and avoid becoming dehydrated.
☀️ Try to stay out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (11:00am–3:00pm).
🧢 Wear lightweight clothing, a hat and sunscreen if you’re spending time outdoors.
🏠 Keep your home cool by closing curtains or blinds in sunny rooms during the day and opening windows when it’s cooler in the evening.
❤️ If you can, check in on friends, family or neighbours who may need a little extra support during the warmer weather.
If you begin to feel dizzy, weak, develop a headache or feel sick, move to a cool place, drink water and try to cool down. If symptoms do not improve within 30 minutes, or someone becomes confused or loses consciousness, call 999 immediately. Further advice on heat exhaustion and heatstroke is available on the NHS Website
